SAJO Spiritwear – Get Yours Now!

February 16th, 2010 at 7:53 by bwelsch

SAJO Parents,

Want to help with a fundraiser and also have something to wear to the tournaments to show your support for our team?
I work with three teachers who started a company called Onword Spirit. It’s an inspirational t-shirt business that donates a portion of its profits to large charities and also people who are in need in our community.  This company has offered to partner with us to design apparel items with the SAJO logo.  Each team has its own design with the girls’ names incorporated within the SAJO logo.  Some of the profit made on the items will go back to the SAJO club. You can check them out on the http://www.cafepress.com/onwordspirit/7056230 website.  Click on the SAJO link on the left toolbar.  If you want to read more about Onword Spirit and the story behind the business, go to www.onwordspirit.com <http://www.onwordspirit.com/> .

Please feel free to call me with any questions.
Thanks,

If you ordered extra socks, spandex, etc. and did not get them yet, please make arrangements to pick them up from Coach Parker at SAHS – 651.351.8224. She is usually the one who runs the skills clinics on Sunday’s at 3 pm, that might be a good time to catch her – and she leads weight training from 3-4:30 pm at the High School Tuesday-Friday.

12’s play the Panther Challenge on 2/7

February 9th, 2010 at 5:24 by admin

The 12’s team headed to Spring Lake Park to play in the panther challenge on 2/7. The SAJO team was part of a 5 team pool with each team playing each other once during the tournament.

The 12’s team started out a little slow and lost 2-0 to the Lakers. This was the first tournament where the girls didn’t get an extra few feet to serve and that played a role in the loses.

The next team up was a well disciplined team from eastview. The girls fought valiantly but fell 2-0 in the second match.

Not to be deterred the girls came alive in the 3rd match. After barely losing the first game to a team called the rebels, they stormed back to take the 2nd game. The celebration at mid-court was short lived though as they fell a bit short in the 3rd game ending up 1-2 in the 3rd match.

The fourth match pitted the SAJO team against the Eastview 12-2’s team. The SAJO team shrugged off the earlier loses easily beating the Eastview team 2-0.

Congrats to coach Jody, coach Mark and the 12’s team!

Scrimmage at Carver Elementary Friday, Jan. 29th

January 25th, 2010 at 7:30 by bwelsch

On Friday we’ll scrimmage a Woodbury team at Carver Elementary school in Maplewood (south of HWY 94 off Century – where SPIKERS played). Arrive at 6 pm. We will warm up from 6-6:30 and scrimmage from 6:30-7:30.  If two parents would be willing to referee as UP and DOWN ref then we coaches could really focus on 6-2 positioning, etc.  Note to parents: be aware this gym is not real accommodating to spectators.

Coach Jody is also working on another possible scrimmage with Mahtomedi 2/2 or 2/26, will keep you posted if this comes together.

Get a good nights rest Saturday night
Bring a water bottle

Please wear your uniform with warm-ups to the tournament
Allowed on the bench are team members in their warm-ups/coaches/waterbottles and our first aid kit (no gatorade or other beverages)
Come with a good attitude ready to play and learn – instead of saying/thinking “I’m tired”  say/think “I get to PLAY VOLLEYBALL” on the drive
